Discussing Emotional Resilience

Brother Brinton: I get the sense of a very dedicated, experienced, and humble disciple of Christ in Brother Brinton. He felt like a Patriarch—lo and behold, he is. “You are doing better at following the path of discipleship than you realize and you can do better at following the path than you are.” We can infer from this that we have greater capacity than we know and always room to improve.

In Elder’s Quorum we talked about mental health and Brother Livingston mentioned dementia as a mental health issue. I’d never thought of that before but…obviously.

As we were talking about the Building Emotional Resilience course it occurred to me that Laura and I should take that course because we very likely have something to contribute to the group. Also, the chance to have an action partner (especially Laura) would be valuable.

Sister Livingston: “Shame is the opposite of connection. Vulnerability and guilt are not.”

Also, “Connection builds influence. Influence does not build connection.”
