Customs and traditions vary. What is normal for one may be unusual for another.
Take a moment to reflect on the customs of our family.
- Personal and family scripture study
- Personal and family prayer
- Attend sacrament meeting weekly
- Participate frequently in temple work and family history
Many other things can be normal parts of our family customs but these 4 should be part of any family built on the rock of the gospel of Christ.
Live each day so that you will be more prepared to meet your Savior.
Edifying customs and traditions are fundamental to our efforts to stay on the covenant path, and those that are an obstacle, we ought to reject.
How can we determine what will be the normal things in our life and in our family? In the scriptures we find a great model; in Mosiah 5:15 it says, “I would that ye should be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works.”
I love these words because we know that the things that become normal in our lives are those that we repeat again and again. If we are steadfast and immovable in doing good, our customs will be in accordance with the principles of the gospel and they will help us to stay on the covenant path.
If we wonder what is normal for us we can just look at what we repeat with consistency.
