Darius made a foolish law—not thinking of the potential consequences. Daniel knew the consequences if his actions in disobeying that law. He didn’t discover because it was foolish, he did so because being faithful to God was not important than avoiding the consequences of breaking the law. What is instructive here is that Darius kept and enforced the law even when he didn’t want to because he understood the value of the rule of law. Thankfully the silly law was only in effect for 30 days.
