Amulon and his brethren were appointed as teachers among the Lamanites but they didn’t teach any spiritual truths. It sounds like they taught the landlord as well as they had taught the people of king Noah. The only difference was that asking the Lamanites they also taught record keeping so they actually provided some benefit.
