Let her alone

Would Jesus have chosen to have the woman amount him with all that expensive oil? It’s possible He would not have recommended that action if she had asked Him in advance (we can’t know). When He told the disciples to let her alone and not trouble her for the actions she had taken there is a lesson there that we seem to overlook in favor of focusing on “the poor ye have always with you.”

It is extremely rare that we are in a position where judging the actions that another person had already taken is helpful. Generally it is best to see any potential good from that past action and otherwise to simply move on and make the best next choices that we can.
