The destruction that the Nephites faced a dozen years after the sign of Christ being born was so extreme that they’re whole society was restructured. Instead of being divided by Nephites and Lamanites they were divided by righteous and wicked with all the righteous Nephites and righteous Lamanites becoming united to fight against the wicked who united from both nations under the banner of the Gadiantons.
