An Enoch day

I was supposed to take Enoch for an intake evaluation so obviously he actually decided to go to school today. I went to the school to pick him up just as class was starting and his teacher confirmed that he didn’t come to class. When I called Summit about rescheduling they said that his refusal to come indicated that he would need a higher level of care. The funny thing was that after school Enoch claimed to have gone to classes so that Laura would give him computer time. The reality was the the school productively emailed to tell us that Enoch had been adopted at the school but that he ran off campus when a teacher tried to approach him.

I think the new rule should be that he can have computer after 4:30 if we don’t get any notification of him having been absent. I told Laura that his behavior towards her was comparable to the way an abusive boyfriend treats his girlfriend—saying whatever he thinks will get him what he wants but without any legitimate respect for the person they are trying to manipulate and take advantage of.

By contrast, the email reporting on Isaac today was very encouraging. It sounds like Isaac really is trying to behave so that he can be out in 3 weeks (his stated goal). Only time will tell if he can/will maintain that self control and make the necessary improvements in that timeframe.
