It occurs to me that Moroni might have been wrong about where the weakness was in their writing. He says that the Nephites were mighty in speaking but that they stumbled over the placement of their words when writing. Considering that the language they spoke and the language they kept their sacred records in were different, it’s possible that they stumbled over the placing of their words because the language of their record keeping was not well suited to conveying the concepts they were recording or it could be that they were not as fluent in the language they were writing in. Regardless of the source of weakness the Lord could compensate through the inspired process of the translation.
I’m all also curious about the statement that the Lord would show unto the gentiles their weakness. What is their weakness? And will He show it into them collectively or unto them individually once they humble themselves before him?
