Are we ready?

I got word today that insurance was asking to meet with someone from Alex’s care team before they determine if he will be authorized for longer. If they don’t authorize more he could come home as soon as Friday. My gut reaction was to worry that if he came home now he would revert back to his same behaviors.

I felt a little better about the prospects after talking to him in the afternoon, although that was mostly because I felt more confident in my ability to talk with him about the need to maintain some minimum standards of functioning. (Like, “staying in your room all day doesn’t cut it.”) My current preference is either to get a lot more clarity in our family therapy time tomorrow or else to have insurance authorize his continued care.
