Emma and Ezra have been doing therapy for months and Emma has come to the point where she needs less and less frequent visits. Ezra, on the other hand, is making virtually no progress because he’s not invested in the idea that there’s any reason to live happier. It’s just a real world proof of what I always said before about not getting Alex therapy sooner—there was no point until he was ready to actually try doing better. (And even at that we had to send him to a residential program against all his protestations that we should just leave him alone.)
