I would imagine that anyone who spent any time in primary would be able to remember “I am a child of God” even if they remembered nothing else. That suggests that primary is doing something right.
Anything broken can be mended through Jesus Christ.
When he’s talking about members who are lukewarm or who take a break from the gospel for a time I consider that our current struggles with our kids in the church are worse because of times when we (primarily Laura) took a break from the church. I’m not trying to blame, she was having some real spiritual struggles, but this is partially fallout from that.
It is so sad when we come across inactive members or nonmembers of the Church who at one time had the gospel within their families and lost it because of their parents’ or grandparents’ decision to take a break from the Church. That decision could have an impact on their posterity forever!
