Today we learned that the flag initiative people who filed the lawsuit voluntarily withdrew their suit yesterday. (I expect their lawyers convinced them after the ring in the injunction that it was a lost cause.) that means the whole issue is closed. Their initiative has officially been declared insufficient and will not be on the ballot and there is no lawsuit to open up future lines of attack or to keep their followers engaged on the issue. I expect that within a year there won’t be more than a dozen people who would bother complaining about the new flag even in settings where it is on display. I even saw the new flag flying in front of the Utah Developmental Center where I have observed for years as they flew a faulty version of the historic flag.
