At the time of Nephi the doctrine of Christ was: faith in Christ, repentance, baptism, endure to the end. (Sounds familiar.) And Nephi declares that no more will be given until after Christ has come. He also declares that enduring to the end will necessitate praying so that we may be guided by the Holy Ghost. That makes me wonder what more doctrine was to be revealed during or after the coming of Christ.
It seems to me that during the ministry of Christ was “added” (“clarified” might be a more correct word) the details of a higher law than the Law of Moses. These details would undoubtedly align with how the Holy Ghost would have been steering those who were praying for direction after having gotten into the path of salvation.
After the ministry of Christ—meaning essentially during the Restoration—was added the formal organization of a lasting church structure (although that was attempted to a degree before the apostasy) and priesthood ordinances beyond baptism (some, but probably not all of which had been practiced at least on a limited basis in the pre-apostasy church).
