I can only imagine how important faith in the sealing covenants would be on a day like that when the Eyring’s were separated from their children while their town was flooded by the Teton dam.
The safest place to live spiritually is within your temple covenants.
(I missed who he was quoting)
Qualifying to make covenants is not a one time effort but a lifetime pattern.
There is nothing more important than honoring the covenants you make or may make in the temple.
More than 80 billion gallons (300 million cubic meters) of water were flowing through the dam and into the 300 square miles (775 square km) of neighboring valleys.
The math nerd in me had to do the calculation of how deep 300 million cubic meters would be spread out over 300 square miles. If the water were evenly spread out over those neighboring valleys it would have been just under 16 inches deep.
As we attend the temple, there can come to us a dimension of spirituality and a feeling of peace. … We will grasp the true meaning of the words of the Savior when He said: ‘Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. … Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.’
Thomas S. Monson

Brothers and sisters, I humbly testify that as we attend the temple, we can be reminded of the eternal nature of our spirits, our relationship with the Father and His divine Son, and our ultimate desire to return to our heavenly home.
We can never be reminded of those things too frequently.
The safest place to be spiritually is living inside your temple covenants!
Russell M. Nelson
Everything we believe and every promise God has made to His covenant people come together in the temple.

Each person who makes covenants … in temples—and keeps them—has increased access to the power of Jesus Christ.
Russell M. Nelson
(October 2022)
Those who make covenants must not forget that keeping them is required if we are to have increased access to the power of Christ.
Qualifying to make sacred covenants is not a one-time effort but a lifetime pattern. The Lord has said it will take our full heart, might, mind, and strength.
Consistent care of brothers and sisters for each other will come only with persistent efforts to lead your family in the Lord’s way. Give children opportunities to pray for each other. Discern quickly the beginnings of discord, and positively recognize acts of unselfish service, especially to one another. When siblings pray for each other and serve each other, hearts will be softened and turned to each other and to their parents.
We have been seeking to notice discord early but there are so few acts of service to recognize because of the culture we have developed so far.
My dear brothers and sisters, I bear witness that there is nothing more important than honoring the covenants you have made or may make in the temple. No matter where you are on the covenant path, I urge you to qualify and become eligible to attend the temple. Visit as frequently as circumstances will allow. Make and keep sacred covenants with God.
