“Plaster on a smile”

Laura mentioned that when she sees kids (Noah in this instance) doing things that she thinks are a healthy change for them she tries to encourage it even if it is annoying for us. She said she just tries to plaster on a smile and it struck me how often as parents we have to do what we didn’t necessarily want in order to accomplish what is best for one or more of the children.

Don’t let the title fool you, dear reader, today was a good day. I came up with a new goal to steadily increase my step count each day to try to improve my health and build up my endurance. Last year I had started walking 3 to 5 miles a day for a couple of weeks only to have my ankles start hurting to the point that I had to ice them constantly. Hopefully a gradual buildup will avoid that.
