It struck me today that the building of towers, especially ancientley, was not something that anyone would undertake lightly or frivolously.
- The people of Babel tried to create a shortcut to heaven.
- King Benjamin tried to ensure that all his people could hear his critical address.
- Noah wanted to gratify his pride by being able to oversee all his land.
- Captain Moroni built towers to have a military advantage over those who would attack his cities.
There we have examples of both good and bad reasons to build towers but it is rare to build a tower just to see if you can. It makes me wonder about building spiritual towers. Do we build spiritual towers to lift ourselves up or do we do so to build the kingdom of God?
