  • Nobody will keep up with the dishes
    • We’ve been fighting this battle for years and every approach (except one) has failed miserably.
      • Laura managed to do dishes for a few days.
      • Mickey still talks about having done the dishes forever—completely oblivious to the facts that:
        • They were never completely done
        • They were almost always done poorly
        • We would often go days or weeks with no progress between fits of nearly catching up
      • Bex has promised to do dishes multiple times but that resulted in catching up once briefly before complaining about having too many pans and apparently giving up.
      • Alex has been paid to do dishes on various occasions resulting in a couple of loads before he gives up.
      • I have been the only one with enough discipline to keep up with the dishes (despite also holding down a full time job unlike anyone else) but even I have limits:
        • Either I give up everything else aside from my job
        • Or I can do only one load or day which doesn’t keep up so much as prevent us from getting hopelessly behind
        • When I stopped doing dishes I have been able to take care of the yard, go for walks daily, and carry the load on ministering
    • It’s bigger than the dishes, it’s the fact that nobody is invested in making the household work. They are all fully dependent on me. Nothing of value happens without me driving it and if I push too hard or get frustrated then they complain that I ask to much.
      • The truth is I demand way too little of anyone.
    • Laura insists on not making plans because she believes she is and must be at the mercy of her children.
  • I’m just frustrated
  • I want to shut down the Internet for everyone here without saying a word and simply disappear until they figure out how to function.
    • And I have zero faith that they would figure it out
