  • Temple service
    • I’m interested in learning about different types of roles at the temple, having already served in custodial, the veil, and leading endowment sessions.
    • Every new opportunity expands on my practical preparation for potentially presiding over a temple at some future time.
    • Having offered my availability I can be content either way on whether the temple selects me.
  • Are some of my hoped-for future opportunities to serve in the kingdom limited by Laura’s capacity?
    • Many of the things I would love to do involve presiding over one thing or another and it seems that in the majority of those types of callings the spouse has a role to play (not always with an official calling).
    • I don’t know if I am interested in a heavy calling that could be done while Laura just bides her time.
      • Actually, knowing myself I would be interested because even if Laura is biding time I wouldn’t be content to bide my time. That being said, I would be sorry to be engaged in something where Laura was unconnected.
    • It’s certainly unreasonable to be called as a temple president if Laura is unable to serve as temple matron or to be called as a mission president if Laura is unready to lead the sister missionaries. (To cite two obvious examples.) Even senior missionary opportunities for single retired men are few if not non-existent.
    • How can Laura and I develop a shared vision to work toward?
