An interaction with Emma encapsulates our boundary-free and authority-free culture. She asked this evening if we could make a cobbler since we had the ingredients available. I told her it was too late in the evening and said we could do that tomorrow. Teen minutes later she came back and asked me “so, what about making cobbler?” I told her that we had just had that discussion and she said, “yeah, I wasn’t really listening.” As if that wasn’t bad enough she came in 15 minutes later to ask if I had ideas on how to deal with a sore arm. I asked why it was sore, expecting it to be the switch sports she had been playing. She said it was that “and whisking.” I asked what she meant by that and she clarified that she was making the cake mix we had for the cobbler.
Do what you want, when you want, even if you’ve been directly told not to and don’t even hide the fact that you make no attempt to listen even when you ask for the answer that you blatantly ignored.
One good thing did happen today though, we got Laura’s application submitted for the office assistant position at Mountain Ridge. I hope they at least call her about the application—I thought it was a pretty solid one by the time we finished.
