An auspicious beginning

Tonight as we were getting ready for dinner Enoch came to me to ask me for help with his math. He acknowledged that he is largely two years behind because of basically ignoring school for 7th and 8th grades. I thought it was promising that he brought it up proactively and that he was patient enough to work through the problems and keep asking questions to understand the concepts we were working on. I assured him that he is smart enough to catch up so long as he can avoid getting impatient when it’s hard. This is a great way to start the the school year and if we do the work now he will have an easier time for the rest of the year

While we were working Ezra asked if I would be willing to help him as well on other nights. It would be great to help him also begin to feel successful in school.
