I was praying for an end to the fighting in Gaza—coming partly from the perspective that such a result would be beneficial to getting Harris elected—when I began to catch a glimpse of the real terror being experienced by the civilians in Gaza and my heart ached for them in a much more personal way than ever before.
War is hell and while there are times when we have to slog through that hell for one reason or another it is never some glorious, noble thing. Even WWII or the American Revolution—which were fought for noble purposes and were clearly divinely supported on one side—were hell and not glorious.
Action Items
- Write about how Israel should make it a priority to become a partner with Palestinians in rebuilding Gaza once some peace has been established in this current conflict and to make it a priority to improve the lives of their Palestinian neighbors.
