- It is ineffective because energy that might otherwise be effective is unusable because the problem/system is unable to incorporate it.
- Obsessing over politics to an unhealthy degree.
- Idling engine
- This is what happens when not committing enough resources to an effort.
- It is ineffective because whatever energy is output is insufficient to affect the momentum of the problem/system.
- Ignoring politics except possibly to cast an uninformed or barely informed vote.
- Dreaming about policy without any avenue to try to implement it.
- Maintaining traction
- This is where enough energy is expended to affect the system in a controlled way.
- It requires sufficient energy applied in ways that drive the problem/system in desirable directions.
- This is the happy medium where the tires are in motion and gripping the pavement.
- I’m trying to figure out how much time/energy/money I can effectively spend toward improving our political environment and where those resources should be most effectively deployed.
