Bass day

I had hoped to review a conference talk in the evening along with the rest of my ideal routine but I spent the last half hour enforcing bedtime with Ezra so now there’s no time for a conference talk if I am to get to bed on time. While I have been feeling better since yesterday morning my voice still sounds sick. At church today I found that I couldn’t hit the tenor notes when singing but the compensation was that I could easily hit even the lowest of the bass notes—that was fun.

Notes from elders quorum

The pride cycle has two phases that are results (we don’t choose them specifically) and two phases that are all about our focus. We choose (maybe not even consciously) to forget the Lord, and we choose to humble ourselves and repent.

The key to upward overall trajectory is to have the humility/repentance phase be consistently longer than the ignore/forget phase.

Invitations:

  • Think about the example Christ set of always being focused outside Himself on what God wanted or on what the children of God around Him needed.
  • Go serve in the temple this week.
  • Take one of the times when you would indulge yourself and instead go serve someone else during that time.
