Barbaric

I have long known that Shiz had a practice of killing any who would not join his army but I realized today that even Coriantumr was similarly barbaric. The people were afraid of both armies and felt compelled to join one or the other. The reality is that I can’t fathom the level of depravity among the Jaredites at this time. They were constantly at war and didn’t even bury their dead. Frankly, they were collectively acting like rabid animals—the kind that all you can do is put them down.

I think the best death one could have (if they had survived that long) would have been to die during the four years of peace where they were gathering everyone for their last titanic struggle. Four years of gathering that concluded with one week of fighting in which a single person was left alive
