A lonely year

I never considered before but each of the eight Jaredite ships was isolated while they were on the water. For nearly a year they had no communication with each other as they were blown by the wind across the ocean. I imagine that each ship had a quantity and variety of supplies such that they could survive independently if needed after landing.

The only possible thing they could have done to stay together would have been to tether the ships somehow to ensure that none drifted off course otherwise they were exclusively turned over to their faith that God would bring them together.
