- Reviewing my guidelines/notes on prayer
- “Pray…about the very longings of your heart”
- Sometimes it feels as though my heart is still too dead to have longings.
- When I prayed about being unable to cry (nearly 30 years ago) my calluses were softened and years still come easily to my eyes especially when I am touched by the Spirit.
- Among the longings of my heart is the feeling of being a wallflower…which I have been praying about a number of times lately.
- “Listen … stay on {your} knees for a while after {you} finish {your} prayer”
- This is akin to the advice that we focus on spending time with God in prayer and not just say our wishlist to God as prayer.
- I’ve actually been doing a little more of this lately since the counsel to spend time with God.
- “Write the thoughts … record your feelings”
- This is what I have been more sporadic about lately.
- “Follow through with actions”
- I have not identified actions regularly in recent weeks.
- I have not really taken any new actions lately—only maintained some of the prior actions I had committed to.
- Diagnosis/Conclusion
- I haven’t fallen as far as I had feared.
- I do need to get back to consistently applying the principles that improved my prayers from last year.
- Not putting prayer first on many mornings has contributed to a more lackadaisical approach and decreased power in prayer.
Action Items
- Make prayer first in the morning—before any videos or articles.
