It’s funny that I spent scripture study this morning talking about the preparatory work Joseph did before he prayed to ask what church to join. Today was an example of the value of preparation. I’ve spent the last couple of weeks researching and test driving cars while trying to figure out what I could afford. Last Friday I figured I had found the car I would buy and I even scheduled time to have it checked out by my mechanic. Over the weekend I oscillated between feeling confident in my decision and wishing I could find a car that didn’t leave me wondering if I was making a gamble. Because the inspection wasn’t until Thursday I decided to use the time I had to check Toyota dealerships to see if anyone had a certified Camry Hybrid that I could afford. Amazingly I found one in Orem so I arranged a test drive.
By the end of the day I had decided to buy that new car for a little bit less than the car I had expected to buy and based on the financing I would have been really stretching my budget to get the earlier car (because of all the fees and the fact that I got a better interest rate through Toyota for the certified Camry than I could get through credit unions for the uncertified one).
In one day I found, test drove, and comfortably committed to a car but I could only do that because of all the prior work of going to various dealerships and reading lots of reviews and statistics so that I knew exactly what I was looking for and why.
