I read about the king men and it is clear that MAGA is rooted in the same faulty spirit of division and disregard for an effective, established system for maintaining peace and order.
I notice parallels too that the neighbors had absorbed an influx of Lamanites (aka the people of Ammon) and while we are not told that the king men considered themselves superior to these immigrants it is easy to imagine they did. That is much like the MAGA attitude that anyone who disagrees with them isn’t a real American and doesn’t deserve basic rights and justice.
