Moroni was raised amidst wickedness. In all his life he never saw a righteous people. His only experience of such a people would have been in vision and in reviewing the sacred records. I have always thought before that his years after the destruction of the Nephites must have been lonely but I now realize that he was probably lonely before that because of the wickedness of those around him. After the destruction of the Nephites, Moroni may have found solace as he dedicated his time to searching the sacred records and making sure a single record of the promised land was completed.
