Types of Ground

What is the difference between the stony ground and the thorny ground? They sound very similar but there seems to be an important difference. Thorny ground is good soil because it can support the thorns. Stony ground can’t support thorns any more than it can support the good seed being sown. The thorns are evidence of good ground underneath. The stones interfere with the germination of any plant, whether desirable or undesirable.

Those who are represented by thorny ground are responsible for their failure to allow the seed to take root. Their ground is prepared but they have allowed the undesirable plants to take precedence over the his seed. Those represented by stony ground may not be responsible for the impediments – they may need outside help to prepare their ground. It is also possible that they are capable of removing the impediment without outside help but whatever it is it chokes out the thorns too. Stones are things like emotional, financial, or health-related issues that prevent a person from having the depth for the good seed to take root.
