It now makes sense that Peter was able to do much more incredible miracles after the death of Christ than he did while the Lord was there. The reason is that before Jesus was crucified Peter had held the priesthood but not the priesthood keys. He received the keys at the Mount of Transfiguration. After that point his power was much greater than it had been before then.
Peter, James, and John were told not to share that revelation until after the resurrection of Jesus. I assume they were also to refrain from using the keys while Jesus was with them.
