Marriage and divorce with unbelievers

The Catholic teaching that marriage to a non-catholic doesn’t count is contradicted by Paul where he says that a believing spouse should not leave an unbelieving spouse. The closest they come to being right if that a believing spouse should not feel guilt if their unbelieving spouse chooses to leave them not be counted an adulterer if they marry a believer afterwards.
