I assume that Amaron was the oldest son of Omni. I wonder if Omni gave him the plates considering him the best to keep them out just because the oldest is the default first choice. Amaron did at least as well as his father in keeping the record but as he gave it to his brother I wonder if he had no children it if they were too young out if he gave the record to his brother long before he even died. I wonder if we are getting a picture here of some of the kind if things that, over time, brought the Jews to have less understanding of their doctrine such that they could be led away from recognizing their Messiah.
