The more I see how much Heavenly Father allows His children to exercise their agency in ways that are counterproductive the easier it is to believe that the breadth and force of the king’s edict protecting Ammon, Aaron, Omner, Himni, and their brethren might have contributed to the persecution of those who were converted. Had he simply said that they weren’t too be imprisoned or mistreated the people who didn’t believe might have been less hostile than when he said that they should be admitted to any home or sanctuary where they were inclined to go.
