When Moroni wrote his epistle to Ammoron his intent was to secure Nephite families in exchange for each Lamanite prisoner but I’m the course of his epistle he ended up requesting an end to hostilities and a Lamanite withdrawal. Because of the defiant response he got he ended up insisting on the higher bar rather than the original intent of his request.
