Lost because of wickedness

The Nephites lost all their possessions in the land southward because if their wickedness. It is no excuse for the dissenters, but there would have been far fewer dissenters of the people, and especially the people of the church, had not treated the poor and needy as well as the stuck and afflicted with contempt. I’m sure we cause some of our problems today because of the same kind of unrighteousness. We would have fewer dissenters over homosexuality if we treated gays with basic human dignity. Unfortunately even, or perhaps especially, within Christian communities they have often been treated as second class citizens or worse.
