The men of the Lamanites and to an even greater degree the men of the Nephites were completely and totally depraved. The way Mormon writes I am left to wonder at the possibility that some of the women still retained at least a semblance of humanity amidst such universal depravity. Something about the way women lived may have feed am ember of humanity even in such dark times.
