Pets

I took the kids for evaluation by a social worker this morning. His conclusion was that unless some of them felt the need for further counseling they didn’t obviously need any. He told the girls that they should not feel obligated to give up their childhood – that they should seek help of they felt there was more to do than they should have to do. He also suggested to Savannah and Alyssa that while it was okay to get away sometimes they should limit their escapism to a few minutes at any given time. If they felt the need to escape more they should seek help/insight from someone. They seems like a good rule of thumb.

On the way home from the appointment multiple kids started talking about wanting a pet. As we talked we concluded that bunnies might be doable. I agreed to go to the pet store just to look around. While there the fish attracted much attention and I felt that we should get some fish as a starter pet before trying anything larger. By the end of the day we had a fish tank and 3 fish (actually, 2 fish and a frog).

Laura and I went to the Elders Quorum Super Bowl and had a great time. I got the high score for the night with a 168 on my first game (2nd best score of my life – I got a 197 once on my mission). My other games were much lower.

Laura slept at home tonight to get away from the stress of construction at Mom’s house.
