Laura is recognizing today the signs of stagnation. She has no direction (although she can hope for the role in 1776); she has had virtually no social schedule the past couple of weeks; she is getting shorter of temper on those brief occasions when she interacts with the kids; and she feels that her therapist has nothing to offer in the way of help.
It’s time to take some forceful action. We can’t afford to react passively or settle for scraps. Some things we know we need (like strong, consistent social support for Laura) and we can’t passively allow them to slip through the cracks.
As a first step I’m am hoping to get her in to see Dr. Empey tomorrow. Alyssa will also have a first visit with him tomorrow evening.
Speaking of Alyssa, just as I’m learning how to have some light, positive interaction with her she is being hammered by negative interactions with Laura and then tonight we discovered that the little kids had gotten into her room, ruined her clay, and broken the lovely hippogryph she had made months ago. She just keeps talking his emotionally.
