If Moroni had not known of the improbable success of Moroni with the lack of response he might not have been as completely alarmed by the fall of Nephihah. He might have assumed that their fall was due to difficulties being experienced by Helaman, similar to the way Helaman assumed his difficulties were due to Moroni needing extra resources.
