I got my surgery scheduled for August and my CAT scan scheduled for next week. I also managed to go to scouts with Isaac at 7.
In the evening, the thing I predicted while Laura was living away came glaringly true tonight. I was able to provide structure in the house but Laura doesn’t follow any structure except what she feels like. I knew that when she entered the mix I would be okay as long as I was allowed to make the call about when we had to stick to the structure. If Laura were able to handle those looks we would be fine.
When I called everyone for scripture study tonight she came up and started into a discussion about personal goals and a family movie. She had no idea that we were supposed to be doing bedtime scriptures. Unsurprisingly when I finally called people back to the original purpose as Laura’s discussion had tapered off she felt I was being grumpy and angry and then she got upset (swearing, throwing her phone). When we tried to talk about it all she could do was say that I should have been more accommodating and she should have been allowed, without limits, to pursue her course regardless of our schedule or structure. Between her coming down and taking me away to talk about it, the family had no structure. Bedtime was around 10pm. The kitchen didn’t get tidied for morning. Isaac, Mariah, and Emma stayed up with Laura until nearly 11. At 11 we then spent until now working with Alyssa who called from Steve and Noreen’s to say she was afraid to fall asleep. We’ll be paying for their laps for days or weeks.
