Love – both felt and acted upon

After a decent conference Sunday when it came time for bed Enoch went to bed crying. I’m not sure that anything in particular even happened to him (like getting schooled or beat up by Isaac) but he kept crying in bed for quite a while keeping everyone up. Finally while I was fixing the fans for the bunk beds which started to talk and told me he didn’t feel like he was loved. I stopped to talk to him for a while about love and how we show love. I explained how much everyone in the family fails to show love and how much the fighting takes away time from me being able to show love. I also explained about how sometimes the way we show love is not visible to children – like cleaning and cooking for them. I also explained that it was hard to feel love from people when we are busy acting hatefully toward them. Enoch began talking about ways to show love to me and ways that I could show love that he would recognize. It was a good parenting moment.
