The boys were terrible in church so I brought them home and made them sit on the couch. Laura was upset by what I told them but after sitting, and each of them being brought to tears, we started listening to scriptures and discussing them. I think it turned out to be a good primary lesson.
In the evening Emma confessed to taking candy that she hasn’t taken but she made her false confession in order to prevent Laura from throwing the popcicles away. She then started crying because she didn’t get one with everyone else. That finally got Alyssa to confess privately that she had been the one to steal the candy. More importantly she told what motivated the theft. I talked to her about it and felt the motivation behind Jesus telling the woman taken in adultery to go and sin no more. I told Alyssa that we would work on the cause of her choice and reminded her that the Savior can turn so things for our good – like using her theft to help us begin dealing with the underlying problem.
