I felt like I hit the jackpot again at work today. During our sprint retrospective when we were talking about what to have for the goal of our next sprint I proposed what I felt was a good first step – defining or process more accurately. Rob Anderson, who I have hardly dealt with (he’s been on vacation for much of my time thus far), disagreed. He felt I was thinking too small and proposed most of my larger vision – the one I hadn’t shared because it was too big for a sprint and I didn’t want them to think I was just full of grandiose plans.
I’ve known from the start that I had support from the top of IT but until today I didn’t realize how fully the ground level of IT already shared my vision. I had hoped but didn’t know before now. (We ended up selling on the Sprint goal I had first proposed after room knew that I agreed with him.)
At pack meeting tonight, Isaac received his Arrow of Light. I can’t begin to describe how period I was as we were up there because he had pushed for this and I barely even supported him, but he made it. He really is growing up.
We also had the Space Derby at pack meeting. Isaac and I had quickly built his ship in about half an hour last night. We didn’t even paint it. He won both of his warmup heats. In fact, his was the first ship (possibly the only one) to actually reach the end of the track. In the next round, the qualifying round, his ship feel off the hanger and he got 3rd of 4. That put him in a low bracket for the finals but again he won his heat to make the final race where he actually won by less than 2 inches. It was nice to see or efforts rewarded even though we didn’t have the time to obsess over the project.
