Those who rely on the Lord and put their trust in Him will finally have their burdens lifted, even if they have tasted the dregs of the bitter cup before He takes it from their hand.
I accept the distinct possibility that everyone in Laura’s family concludes that they can’t give us anything like the help we know we need. Andy and Lily have offered what they can – although they likely don’t recognize how it isn’t what we need (aka it doesn’t allow the family to remain strongly connected) – but among those four families who could theoretically offer the kind of burden sharing that we need only two could realistically offer it and one of those two has already declined while the other has noted strong reasons to hesitate.
I still have confidence that some way we will make progress but I have no certainty about what that path will end up looking like.
The thing we gain from this at the very least it’s a determination that nobody feel like an Ender Wiggin with a Colonel Graff somewhere in the background saying “Ender Wiggin must believe that no matter what happens, no adult will ever, ever step in to help him in any way.”
