We meet with Adelyn today and felt that we had a good meeting where she understood how responsive we had been to finding solutions in contradiction of what she had been concerned about. We got a better understanding of their process and perspective and as we left she said she was going to close the case as unsupported. Half an hour later she called back and left a message saying they were keeping the case open to investigate the claims against Grandma Colette (using cayenne pepper, putting them in the trunk, threatening to drop them off at the homeless shelter). For now we probably need to treat her as a criminal lest they conclude that we aren’t protecting the kids from big bad Grandma. That’s extremely frustrating to me since she is the only person outside of us who has helped them behind to exercise self discipline at times.
