Past tense

I find it interesting that Nephi speaks of the baptism of Christ in the past tense. I wonder if that was because, having seen it in vision, it was past tense for him or if that is because he was worrying to people in a future time when the baptism of Christ was past tense for everyone. It’s quite possible that both were reading to write as he did.
