Alma 1:11
I am intrigued by Alma’s focus on Nehor’s practice of priestcraft. As the high priest, it makes sense, but as the cheif judge I am not sure that there was a law against priestcraft. My only guess is that this focus in judgement is somehow related to the bold plea that Nehor made when he was brought before Alma to be judged. Maybe Nehor said he was defending his right to priestcraft. Alma responds hat there is no precedent of priestcraft an d therefore, no law protecting any right to practice it. Alma specifies that the larger problem is that Nehor tried to enforce priestcraft by the sword and then he states prophetically that if priestcrafts were to be enforce, the people would be destroyed.
