The reign of the judges over the people of Nephi began with Alma the Younger walking on the path of righteousness as the first and cheif judge. He was one who could have been a good kong to his people. This transition to the new system of judges was marked by vu continual peace because of judges who made righteous judgements and also they were governing a people who were individually righteous on the whole. Having established a stable and righteous society, Alma the Elder died at 82 years old and Mosiah the king died at 63 years old in the first year of the reign of the judges.
