Sometime in the middle of the morning Savannah asked me to come downstairs and there she showed me Elliot who was hardly moving, obviously bloated, and looking very fragile. We both agreed that there was not likely anything to be done for him except try to make him comfortable and pray for him. I told Savannah that I would not have expected him to die before we left Bountiful but that now I felt that was distinctly possible. We checked in on him at various times and I told Elliot how proud I was of him. Finally around 5:00 Savannah got my attention and indicated that he had passed on. She asked me to take care of his body. As I carried him out I thanked him for the joy that he had brought and for hanging on with us through all the chaos. I’m grateful that while he seemed uncomfortable it didn’t appear to be acutely painful and it seems to have been very short. Hopefully his suffering was kept to a minimum. On the bright side, Willow seems to have eaten a decent amount of alfalfa last night and seems to even be a bit more active. We continue to hope for a full recovery for her.
Miraculously tonight when we tried to fit everything in the storage unit it actually fit. When we pulled up with all the neighbors and their truck it was universally agreed that we wouldn’t come even close to getting it all into the unit.
